The Pros and Cons of Owning a Large Hot Tub

A large hot tub can be a great step up. They can handle a bigger crowd and a capacity for more activity than their smaller brethren. Larger hottubs also offer a wider combination of additional features.

Most owners are drawn to large capacity hottubs at one time or another. Their bigger size and ability to handle more people do offer greater fun. However, there are some things you should consider before getting a larger hot tub.

First, the good side. Simply because of their larger capacity, the bigger hot tubs give you a lot more luxury. If you are used to a smaller, four-person hottub, you’ll be thrilled with the area you have to lounge about in a six, eight, or larger seat hot tub. The extra seating brings even more people together for those relaxing dips. Now you have room for activities and games as well as more bodies.

Most of your upscale options work best with a large portable hot tub. Not only is the capacity able to handle more people, but you can make your hottub a true center of your backard. Consider surrounding your spa with a hot tub gazebo, a counter with bar stools, floating radios and more to expand your fun. Even options like attached dressing areas make your bigger setups even nicer to use.

Of course, the other side is the larger commitment you need to make in both money and area. High capacity hot tubs are more expensive to buy, but also cost more to maintain. Instead of 200 gallons, you are heating 500 or more gallons in the largest in-ground models. Plus you have higher capacity pumps and hottub heaters and more home spa chemicals to add to your maintenance lists. Still, chances are the delight in your first get-together in your large home spa will make it all worthwhile.
