Hot Tubs For Sale: Should You Buy New Or Used?

Shopping for a home spa involves more than looking at the hot tubs for sale ads in the newspaper. An important decision to make is whether to buy a new or used hot tub, but many people do not understand the impact of their choice. Not all new tubs are good deals, nor are all used home spas and hottubs a bad deal. The key is to understand the qualities you should look for before completing a sale.

How do you know if you should buy new or used? In general, first time buyers should look at new hot tubs to learn how they work, what makes some used hottubs better quality than others, and gain an overall understanding of the ins and outs of tub ownership. Caution should be taken, though, not to rush into a sale before gathering enough information to make a good decision. Remember that retailers have sales and specials on a regular basis, so don’t allow yourself to be pressured into buying right away.

If you have experience owning hot tubs, though, or are mechanically inclined, then considering a used spa is not a bad idea. There are portable hot tubs and home spas of all different qualities for sale, and you are in a good position to evaluate them and make an informed buying decision. Based on your experience you probably have a good idea of what to look for in quality components, so it is easier for you to assess a spa and the owner’s stated reasons for selling it. And if you like to fix things or work on projects, you likely have a good sense of how to evaluate quality construction and know which used home spas or hottubs you find on sale are worth fixing and which are not.
