Hot Tub Water Care
Don’t Neglect Hot Tub Water Care
More than any other problem seen with spas is the problem of
hot tub water care. Some people purchase a hot tub and then simply
don’t take the time to perform regular spa water maintenance in order to
keep it in top working condition. It’s a shame, because if you do the
routine care on a regular basis, you will actually save money and get more
enjoyment out of your spa.
Maintaining and caring for your hot tub or
portable home spa is essential to keep the amounts of chlorine or
bromine and the pH levels at optimal levels. If you use your spa on a daily
basis or several times a week, checking these levels every day takes only a
minute and will prevent the chemical balance from getting so out of whack
that you need to “shock treat” the water. You should check weekly if you
don’t use the hot tub as often. This type of preventative care will mean
less need to periodically drain and clean the tub and fewer problems with
plumbing and fixtures.
Signs that your hot tub’s water may be out of balance and needs to have some
home spa chemicals added include:
-
Foaming of the Water - Foaming can be caused by a
number of things, including too many products like skin lotions and makeup
in the spa’s water. You can take care of this by adding a solution
designed to dissipate the products and clear out the foam.
-
Cloudy Water - This sign of possible bacteria build-up
or simply too many dissolved solids can be eliminated with proper chemical
maintenance.
Replacing your filter yearly will also take care of this problem.
With proper water maintenance and care, your home spa or
portable hot tub will be a joy for
years to come. Simply focus on the routine care and you’ll by-pass most of
the common problems and spend more time enjoying your investment in
relaxation.
