How to Evaluate a Home Spa Review
When you are in the market for a hot tub, you naturally want
to consult a good home spa review publication or online resource. You
might be surprised to find out, then, that many hot tubs ratings and reviews
are not as objective as they seem. The manufacturers themselves sponsor many
reviews, and the ratings are not always based on the expertise of home spa
professionals. Instead, the review of a particular model is often written by
editors or even by the manufacturer themselves.
So how do you know which reviews are the most objective when it comes to
evaluating different brands and models? Look for ratings that are based on
real-world measurements of performance and include comments from actual home
spa owners. Never allow yourself to be swayed by just one poor review of a portable hot tub you are considering,
but instead look for patterns of reviews across several different sources.
For example, if a particular home spa you are considering gets a bad review
in a particular ratings resource, do not write off that hot tub immediately.
Instead, look for patterns of reviews to see which particular brands or
models tend to show up most often as good buys and which ones tend to show
up most often as poor buys.
Look also for ratings and reviews from established consumer organizations
like J.D. Power and Associates or Consumer Reports. Most of the time you
will find material from these sources that is less like a review and more
like a measurement of problems with various hot tubs as reported by
consumers and owners of portable home spas.
While this information will not give you detailed insight about features and
benefits of specific hot tub brands, it will give you some sense of which
brands are most likely to have the fewest problems during ownership.
