Buying Guide for Hot Tubs
Consult Our Buying Guide for Hot Tubs
It is a good idea to consult a
buying guide for hot tubs and
home spas before considering a purchase. There are hundreds of
manufacturers, all with their salespeople wanting to inform you, the buyer,
of the details you need to decide to buy their portable home spa. When going through
their sales pitch, keep this information in mind:
Check out the spa buyer’s information for the size of the hot tubs and spas
being offered. There are two considerations to guide you here. First is the
size of the portable home spa. Will it to fit into the space you have
available? Don’t forget space for the pumps and filters. Also, how many
people does it seat? When shopping, make sure you inform yourself properly
before you buy.
Check the buying guide to see if the seating arrangement and equipment is
right for you. Seating information can be key to your decision to buy. Some
seating is fairly upright. Some is more reclined. Some spas and hot tubs
have a myriad of therapy jets that can roil the water into a steaming
cauldron. But if you prefer a leisurely soak then that may be too much.
Along with any buyer’s information ask to see a copy of the warranty. Read
it thoroughly. A good rule of thumb is the better the warranty, the better
the spa or hot tub. Learn what is covered and for how long, but also what
must be done to have covered items repaired. This should give you an
excellent guide of how reliable your
portable hot tub will be.
Before you buy make sure some technical requirements are in good order. All
spa or hot tubs should feature adequate insulation for the shell and
plumbing. The better protection against cold air to cool your water, the
lower your electric bill will be. Check the guide to be sure that the hot
tub you are considering is listed by a recognized independent testing agency
such as UL or ETL. And check the information to make sure the hot tub or custom spa cover comes with a
means of locking it securely to prevent unauthorized use.
